The Wenatchee River Salmon Festival staff had a wonderful selection of posters to choose from in selecting this year’s poster contest. Over 780 posters were submitted from 21 elementary schools throughout North Central Washington. The posters were based on Salmon Fest’s 2014 theme “Salmon Adventures” and were judged on the basis of creativity, artwork and use of the festival theme.
This year’s Grand Prize winner is Macy Fowler, a third grade student from John Newbery Elementary School in Wenatchee. Ms. Fowler’s poster is the “O-FISH-al” festival publicity poster and is featured in announcements for the 24th Wenatchee River Salmon Festival and will be distributed throughout the region promoting the festival.
Congratulations also go to the 2014 Runners-Up:
The three top winners received T-shirts with their poster imprinted on it, a trophy, and their teachers received a $25.00 gift certificate from McDees Art Center. The grand prize winner received the same items and her teacher received a $50.00 gift certificate to McDees. All Best of School winners received a medal.
